What’s for Dinner? Part One – Planning

I’m over at Habits for a Happy Home today, so pull up a chair and join me, won’t ya?

Where’s Grandma?

This was the question asked by our two-year-old the other day.  How do you explain to a little one that her Grandma, who she adored, is not coming home?

Bill posted about his mom here. I’ll post more soon.  There’s a lot going on here right now.  I do want to thank our family and friends who have bathed us in their love and prayers.  Once again, you have touched us with the hands and feet of Jesus.  Love you all.

It’s a doozy

I got the call a little while ago, and while it wasn’t as bad as a new engine, it was close.  We have a blown head gasket that will cost about $1500-1600 to fix.  That is only if none of the gaskets are cracked.  If they are, it would be more.  As I was getting off the phone with the car guy, a friend from church dropped by and I told her what he said.  She said she knows a guy who could probably fix it for alot less.  I am clinging to this hope.   Gotta run do dinner and group…

A 2-Coke Day

Those of you who know me probably know that my weakness is Coke (the drink, that is).  My favorite is cherry coke.  I would rather have an icy fountain coke than cookies, cake, or even chocolate – gasp! I especially love one around lunch when I feel like I need a caffeine boost. I hate this weakness, but I have made myself a limit of one can a day, so I have to use it wisely 🙂 My goal is to eventually wean myself off of them totally, however now would not be the best time.

Anyway, I don’t know what is in the air, but a whole bunch of stuff happened today in the span of a few hours. I’m not at liberty to discuss some of those things.  I will say that one thing had to do with my MIL (need I say more?) The rest was a bunch of stuff I did not see coming.  Mix in the regular day-to-day happenings with kids and you have a recipe for some caffeine dependency. So by 10 this morning, I had cracked open the first one, followed later by the second around 3 and somehow I made it until Bill came home.

The best part of the day was taking a walk this evening with the family and talking with my hubby while the kids left us in the dust on their scooters.  It was so nice out that it really revived my spirit.  And without a stimulant-laden soft drink 🙂

Here’s hoping that tomorrow is a single-coker!

I was reading Kendra’s resolutions on her blog and agreed that those were all things that I would like to accomplish.  I was not brave enough to officially make them my resolutions, though.  The only one on the list that I wouldn’t have a problem with was reading more books.  I love to read and I go through stages where I consume several books over a few weeks. It’s been a while…

I know it’s been a while.  I decided to change my theme. Since we actually got some snow I don’t need to look at it on my blog anymore 🙂  This one seemed serene and pleasing to look at.  I guess I am craving serenity.
